More Crusing with Zoë

And another one...

So I guess I should talk about where she is developmentally. She can roll over, but she chooses to do that for LaTida at daycare rather than for us. She thinks that I am funny now too, which is nice, because prior to this, she really only thought Jesse and LaTida were funny. She has found her feet and the ability to spit at us like a llama...she mostly sleeps though the night. I guess the big thing is that she had her first "solid" food last night--rice cereal (video of that to follow). It was, as you can imagine messy, disgusting, and cute.

Cruising with Zoë

Zoë contintues to astound us with her patience and flexibility (which applies to both her attitude and the fact that she has finally found her feet). We drove 5 hours each way to Baltimore this weekend with nary a meltdown. She even had the courtesy to explode with poo at a rest area, rather than in the car seat. She did however, spend an hour bathing us in Bronx cheers on Friday night, which I suppose was an editorial comment on her experience?

Detante

After 5 months of total feline freeze, Seymour decide to accept Zoe's existence and membership in the clan. Now, if only he can forgive us!

Inauguration Craptacular

After at least 4 days without pooping Zoe literally exploded with poop today. Twice. Out of every diaper exit point. One could say it was simply her political commentary about our new president, but my baby ain't no Republican. Instead I attribute her massive output as a metaphor for the relief that many of us feel as the scourge of the new century left the building. Oh, sweet relief.

Four Months Old

So, where are we now? Zoë can twist like a crueller, but she can't turn over quite yet, but not for lack of trying. She smiles a lot. I'm waiting for a laugh that doesn't sound like hacking up a hairball. Someone tell me when this happens, please.
Zoë started daycare this week, which was a huge, and difficult step. I started to feel a lot better when I dropped her off the other day and two of the toddlers were leaning over her carseat and she totally snapped to attention and flashed a big smile at them--you know, after giving mommy the I-hate-the-car-seat stink-eye since putting her in at house. So, apparently, it's all good for her :)

Zoë is a little cranky at night

The Crabby Cure

First things first: this might be my favorite picture of Z ever. But secondly, I would like to report that the Moby Wrap is the most miraculous piece of overpriced, organic, stretchy material. After a long day of 5 min cycles of wailing and general tetchiness, I stuffed her into the carseat and took her to the park, where this nice woman from the Durham Mother's listserv met me to sell me the wrap. I had considered not buying the thing, but boy howdy, that was probably the best $$ I've spent in recent years. I spent the rest of the day working and seeing that beautiful face in the picture. I've tried it in a few venues so far. At Whole Foods...she was irristable to old women. At the Christmas tree farm, she was warm, but then her nose turned red. I'll have to work on that.
